History of Baby Bonnets In the old days bonnets were used by women and children as well as babies. They wore winter bonnets in the winter made of heavier fabrics, and the Summer Bonnets were light weight. They switched to Sun Bonnets on Easter Sunday. Some women had fashionable bonnets as well as pratcital ones, most had several bonnets each. They had different bonnets to wear in the country and in the city. The people that were better off had different bonnets for different occasions. The Summer Bonnets often had floral print to celebrate the return of the new growing season. Some ladies decorated their bonnets with real flowers. Still to this day there are communities that wears bonnets. Originally men's hats were called bonnets. The first bonnets came in the 18th Century and looked like hats and where often decorated with lace and feathers. At the end of the 18th Century the bonnet started taking the shape it still has today. Babies look so adorable in bonnets and these sweet bonnets will have your baby showered in compliments. |
